For the longest time, I struggled with nurturing concepts because
I was an underdeveloped creative… if you know, you know.
My mind has always been full of ideas.
Vision after vision.
Concept after concept.
I’ve always known I had something inside of me meant to be built.
But life was happening too.
I moved states … a couple of times.
I got married … a couple of times.
Went through various forms of abuse… quite a few times.
Had two babies back to back… (don’t judge me, lol).
Got divorced ... a couple of times.
Had to move… again.
Experienced rejection from people I genuinely believed were my people.
Struggled processing disappointment I didn’t know how to carry.
Spent seasons searching for genuine community and trying to find believers
I truly connected with all while trying to heal the little girl within me.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that…
I was still trying to figure out where I belonged.
Meanwhile, God wasn’t focused on what I was trying to build.
He was focused on trying to teach me who He needed me to become
through all of that.
Because the truth was…
My mindset wasn’t mature enough to build a sustainable business at the time anyway.
I stayed burned out trying to figure life out.
And no… that’s not a flex.
It’s just the truth.
I would get excited about something, start moving toward it, hit resistance… then give up. I’d switch gears. Pivot.
And then start saying things like… “Well… maybe the Lord is telling me to do this instead…”
And I’d completely abandon what I originally started before ever seeing it through.
Not because I wasn’t capable.
But because I hadn’t done the internal work necessary to sustain the assignment attached to me.
And what’s wild is…I never struggled committing to other people’s visions.
I could help other people build. I could help other people birth their ideas. I could pour into what they were creating all day long.
But when it came to my own assignment…
That’s where I struggled.
And truthfully?
That was probably rooted in self-worth and trying overcompensate for perceived value.
…but that’s a whole different book for another day.
So I had to confront something hard. I didn’t need another strategy. I didn’t need another business idea. I needed to develop my mindset.
I had to unbecome the version of myself life had shaped me into becoming without my authority and I had to take my authority back.
And allow Father God to make me over again through His identity.
